Public interest in Serial is understandably high, with fans keen to find out which cases will be featured in the forthcoming seasons. Whatever the case is, Serial is sure to gain lots of interest on its behalf. Season 2 is sure to be every bit as captivating as the first, but it already has people guessing what Season 3 might be about. The subject of Season 3 has yet to be announced, but we now know that Serial Season 2 is about Bowe Bergdahl, the American soldier who was held hostage for almost five years by the Taliban. This highlights the fact that fans are most definitely at the forefront of the minds of Serial's producers and program makers. What we can say is that they’re very different from Season One, but no less interesting to us. Sorry - we can’t tell you details about the new stories yet. As it stands, we intend to launch Season 2 this fall and Season 3 next spring. And we hope it means we can reduce the amount of time between the end of Season Two and the beginning of Season Three. This means we’re planning on a third season of Serial.
According to the May 2015 newsletter, Season 3 is already in the works (though it's not being recorded just yet): Third: we are hard at work reporting not one, but two distinct new stories. While a definite date has not been set, it's exciting to know that, as soon as the current case wraps up, there will be a new one to devour almost immediately. Luckily for fans, it seems they won't spend very long asking, " when does Serial Season 3 come out," because we already know that those episodes are due to air in Spring 2016.
Season 2 of super popular podcast Serial has only just started, and already buzz is building for Serial Season 3.
